This device is designed to
help a worker avoid the negative effect of hanging in a harness known as
Suspenstion Trauma or Orthostatic Intolerance. This condition can occur
when a person remains suspended after a fall (even for short periods of
time). Suspension in a harness may cause blood to pool in the veins of
the legs which can result in unconsciousness, if not rescued promptly,
serious injury or death may occur. The Trauma Relief Strap is designed
to help prevent suspension trauma while a worker is awaiting rescue. The
Trauma Relief Strap allows for a suspended worker to stand up in the
strap to relieve the pressure being applied to the arteries and veins in
the upper legs. The strap's design allows the worker to have either one
or both feet in the loop at a time or have two separaste loops, one for
each leg.
